Nigerian examination information is unusually unreliable. Examination boards publish inconsistently, leave stale documents on live portals, and in some cases do not publish basic facts like fee schedules at all. Meanwhile the sites that fill the gap copy each other, repeat figures that were wrong years ago, and rarely say where anything came from.
This page sets out what we do differently, so you can judge whether to trust a number on this site.
Every figure carries its source
Each page ends with a numbered Sources block. It names the document each fact came from, links it where a link exists, and states whether the source is official, meaning a publication of the examination body itself, or secondary, meaning press reporting or another third party.
That distinction is not decoration. WAEC, for example, publishes no fee schedule anywhere on its own domains. Every WAEC fee you will ever read, on this site or any other, traces back to a newspaper. You deserve to know that before you plan a budget around it.
We say when we do not know
Where a figure cannot be confirmed, we say so rather than picking the most popular number in circulation. Some examples currently on the site:
- NECO’s numeric grade bands appear only in secondary sources. NECO’s own FAQ states only that the examination is graded using letters. We publish the bands and label them as unconfirmed.
- NABTEB’s current May/June fee cannot be verified, because the entry guide published on NABTEB’s live 2026 portal is headed 2025. We do not guess it.
- The one-year validity of a UTME result is universally applied but we could not find it stated on any official JAMB page. We say that on the page.
- All JUPEB and IJMB tuition figures come from centre and agent sites. Neither board publishes a fee schedule.
We flag contradictions rather than hiding them
When two sources disagree, we show both and explain which we chose and why.
NECO’s 2026 BECE fee is a working example. NECO’s website fee table gives ₦13,959. NECO’s signed registration guidelines PDF and its own BECE page both give ₦13,595. We publish ₦13,595 because two official sources agree against one, and we tell you the discrepancy exists so you can check before paying.
Official sources are not automatically current
This is the assumption that trips up most Nigerian education sites. A page on a .gov.ng domain is not necessarily right.
- NABTEB’s own eworld FAQ quotes a result card price of ₦250 and directs buyers to a bank that has not existed since around 2006. The live price is ₦600.
- JAMB’s FAQ page carried 2025 dates and the 2025 age cut-off well into the 2026 cycle. We verify against JAMB’s weekly bulletins instead.
- WAEC’s site still describes its private diets as running in February and November to December. The 2026 Second Series actually ran from September.
- IJMB’s official O level grading table is internally inconsistent: marks from 36 to 39 fall into no band, and 34 appears in two.
Where a body’s static pages and its live registration portal disagree, we trust the portal, because the portal is the only thing updated every cycle.
What “Last verified” means
The date shown on an article is the date a person re-opened every source on that page and confirmed the figures still held. It is not the date we edited a sentence, and it is not generated automatically when the page is saved.
At write time we tag every fact that changes on a cycle: fees, registration windows, examination dates, result release dates, subject availability. Those tags drive a scheduled sweep. Fees and windows are re-checked when each body opens registration. Result and certificate information is re-checked at each release.
What we will not do
- We do not sell or broker anything. No PINs, no tokens, no registration services, no centre placements.
- We do not rank examinations by difficulty. The only comparable numbers are pass rates, and the bodies examine different cohorts on different syllabi. A pass rate is not a difficulty score, and presenting it as one is misleading.
- We do not link to result upgrade services, expo, or runs. They are fraud, and in the cases that are not fraud they are malpractice that gets results cancelled.
- We do not invent precision. Where a body publishes letters and not mark ranges, we publish letters and say so.
Always confirm before you pay
We are independent and not affiliated with WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, JAMB, JUPEB, IJMB or any examination body. Fees and deadlines change, sometimes at short notice and sometimes without announcement.
Whatever you read here, confirm the current figure on the official portal or with your school before money changes hands. If you find something on this site that is out of date or wrong, tell us and we will correct it.
