Why problems here take the shape they do
Papers are an objective paper, an essay paper, and a practical where the subject carries one and marked against NECO’s own mark scheme, on a nine-point scale identical to the other council’s. That decides what can go wrong: a machine-marked paper fails differently from one read by an examiner.

Name the problem correctly first
Read the exact wording on your statement before you do anything else. The states are different administrative conditions with different routes, and they are used interchangeably in conversation in a way that sends candidates down the wrong path for weeks.

A misspelled name, a wrong date of birth, a subject you did not choose, a duplicated entry: where a school registers candidates in bulk, all of these originate there. They are far cheaper to fix before the entry closes than after the certificate is printed, which is the entire argument for checking your own entry while there is still time.
The complaint channel is free. Decisions are made by a committee on a schedule. Any agent or contact promising a faster outcome in exchange for a transfer is running a fraud, and paying them adds a second problem to the one you already have.

- Check the result again. Some problems close on their own within days.
- Write down the exact status wording, your number, the diet and the subjects affected.
- Lodge on the body’s own channel.
- Tell your school or centre the same day, and get it in writing that they have escalated.
- Diarise a follow-up two weeks out. Cases that go quiet are cases nobody is chasing.
